Saturday was a hat day. There was rain by the bucket load, but we weren't going to let this dampen our spirits. The coats were pulled out, the boots were on and we were ready to go exploring.

This outfit is Autumn in a nutshell; long, light weight coat, tartan scarf and camel floppy hat, to protect yourself from the unknown weather conditions. We all know that Autumn in the UK can be a funny sort of season. We get some beautiful sunny days, as well as lots of very gloomy wet days. Therefore, arming yourself with a good hat and light weight jacket is pretty much essential!

I picked up this trench coat from H&M whilst I was in Amsterdam and it's been stuck to me ever since! It's such an easy piece to wear and gives a touch of sophistication to any outfit. Then the hat, which is really the star of the show. I'm a very unsure hat wearer, I don't know if they suit me or if they just emphasise my round face. However, I really do love this camel floppy hat, the colour is very on trend this season, and it did a good job in keeping my hair dry! Always a bonus.

We set off to spend the day wandering around the beautiful grounds of Wollaton Hall. The surroundings made the perfect back drop for an autumn outfit shoot, the leaves were turning a stunning burnt orange and there were deer everywhere! Despite the weather it was such a nice day out and is a picture perfect place to visit.

What have you been up to this weekend?

Maybelline Matte Maker Powder Review

I recently decided to break away from my usual Rimmel Stay Matte Powder that I've used since I was about 15, and although it has always served me well, I felt like I could possibly be missing out on something better.

I was browsing the make-up section and came across this little beauty, Maybelline Matte Maker, not only is the name cute but the packaging is also very chic and minimalist.

I'm lover of a matte base and then using highlighter to create a luminous look. Dewy is not really my go to finish, I find I can look a little greasy. Which is definitely not a good look!

I like to create a really clean flawless look to my face, whilst also trying to keep it looking fresh and bright. I found that applying the Matte Maker over my Estee Lauder Double Wear creates a lovely bright, soft finish to my skin.

Estee Lauder Double Wear is renowned for it's high coverage, but I find that if you apply just a few dots on areas where you need the coverage, and then blend it in well you get a nice natural look. Then the powder helps to set all this in place and keep you looking fresh all day long.

The powder itself is very light weight and not cakey. My skin is left feeling very soft and more to the point very matte, and even though it's a mattifying product, it doesn't leave you looking dull or washed out either.

The mattifying power is really impressive, I only have to re-powder my nose once during a 12 hour shift. Which is good for me as I have quite oily skin! Therefore, I am glad I broke out of my usual routine, and even though the Stay Matte powder will hold a place in my make-up bag, I have developed a new found adoration for Matte Maker.

You could say it's a Matte Made in Heaven.

Oscar & Rosies, Nottingham

On Sunday me and my other half attended Save the Date Wedding Fayre, which was absolutely amazing. We found some really good suppliers and we're now even more excited about next year. All the excitement worked up an appetite, and the one thing I wanted most was Pizza!

There was one place for this, Oscar & Rosies. This little slice of heaven (see what I did there) can be found just off the corner of Thurland Street, in the centre of Nottingham. Oscar and Rosie's is an independent pizza restaurant that prides itself in incorporating high quality ingredients into it's pizzas.

I really loved the whole design of their interior, it had an amazing chalkboard wall that is what Pinterest dreams are made of. Then there were long wooden tables, all of which had cute little red candles and cacti on, again a bloggers paradise.

Another cute quirk that I really liked was the simplicity of the menu, Oscar and Rosie's definitely do what they say on the tin, Pizza. Glorious Pizza.

After a little perusing, and almost being tempted by a metre long pizza, I decided on a classic Margarita. The Mr went for the 'Meat Sweats', which had pepperoni, smoked streaky, fennel and black pepper pork, with a bbq base. A meat lover's dream.

The service was excellent, we didn't have to wait long at all for our drinks and food to arrive, and both of our pizza's were cooked to perfection. I couldn't resist popping a bit of the smoky chipotle ketchup on mine, and I'm so glad I did, it was delicious!

The gooey cheese and crunchy base went down a treat, especially with a nice cold drink to go alongside it. The Mr opted for a classic cold beer whilst I went for a fresh zingy apple juice.

We sat and chatted whilst digging in, and managed to finish with happy full bellies. Then we overheard the next table ordering desserts and just couldn't say no to a chocolate orange tart to share! There were so many other flavours too such as peanut butter and salted caramel, the choice was hard but we fancied something a bit fruity.

It was a sweet and scrumptious way to end a lovely lunch, I was definitely ready to head home and relax with my food baby in toe.

I would highly recommend a trip to Oscar and Rosie's if your a Pizza lover (Who isn't?!) The food is excellent, with high quality ingredients making their pizza one of the best I've tried, as well as also having exceptional customer service. We will certainly be making a return visit!

The Perfect Primark Lip Liner

When I was browsing the aisles of Primark last week, I popped over to the beauty section to grab my favourite eye liner and stumbled across this lip liner. I'm really impressed with Primark's range of make-up, it seems to keep growing, and the quality is really lovely too!

This particular lip liner took my fancy. It's the perfect dark nude shade for Autumn. I find nude lipsticks really difficult to wear due to having such a fair complexion, however, I think this particular shade suits me quite nicely. It makes my skin tone look warmer.

Primark lip liner

The only gripe I have is that the lip liner doesn't appear to have a name, so I've tried to capture the colour of it as best I can for those of you who want to try it out. For the price, it's definitely worth trying, even if, in the end, you decide it's not for you.

The packaging itself is a very clean, black and gold design. I love gold on anything at the minute, and I have somewhat become a magpie for it!

The pigmentation is excellent, the liner comes out slightly creamy and very opaque. I'm a huge fan of a matte lip in Autumn, and therefore decided, after testing it out of my hand, that I would apply it all over my lips.

I really liked how the lip liner looked by itself and the staying power was so much better than your standard lipstick. It lasted most of the day, even after eating and drinking, which is a definite bonus when you work long days like me.  I'm always looking to improve the longevity of my make-up.

The pointed tip makes it so easy to get a perfect outline, enhancing the natural shape of your lips.  At the same time the formula makes it simple to use all over. It's a win win situation in my eyes!

Overall, what I love most about this Lip Liner is not only the amazing price, but also the longevity. The less you have to re-apply, the longer it should last. Essentially more bang for your buck! The colour is so lovely and autumnal too, I can see it fast becoming my go to lip product. Although, I may have to find a good lip salve for the winter, as the product is mainly matte in texture, which could be a dry lips worst enemy. Considering all of the elements, this liner gets a 10/10 from me, hats  off to Primark for having the best autumnal dark nude lip shade.

Suede Skirts & Polo Necks

Polo Neck- New Look
Sleeveless Blazer- Primark
Suede Skirt- Select Fashion
Bag- Michael Kors
Fur Pom Pom - H&M

Now that the weather has turned colder I have been reaching for my warm clothes, my favourite piece being this roll neck top. It has a fine rib texture, so it's not too thick, but the high neck keeps you nice and warm. I decided to layer it up with this fitted sleeveless blazer, to give the outfit a bit of edge.

The suede camel skirt is very on trend now and gives the muted outfit a little pop of colour whilst keeping within the autumn colour palette. I wore this outfit to a I attended and felt confident yet comfortable all day.
